Terms and Conditions: Please read in full prior to ordering ~ Aftercare

Our furniture is rustic shabby chic. We use solid wood to make our table and benches with mortice and tenon joints to the base. The finish we achieve is of a rustic, rough texture and appearance in a shabby chic style. If you are after an "as new" spray painted factory finish, then maybe our furniture is not for you. We supply feet pads with our tables and benches for you to add to ensure there is no movement or if you do not have a completely even floor surface.

Please continue to read for full details prior to placing an order.

As mentioned above, if you would like fluted legs rather than our standard turned farmhouse legs, a fee will apply.

The bases of our furniture are lightly sanded, primed and hand painted with layers of luscious paint in Farrow & Ball "Clunch".  The table tops will be oiled in Danish oil in medium Georgian Oak or Jacobean Dark oak, a different shade may be applied but this will incur a £15 cost added to your quote.

If you would like an alternative paint colour to the above mentioned, you may otherwise choose your own paint finish from the Farrow & Ball range which can be found on their websites. This must be agreed prior to a quote being submitted to you, as a fee of £25 will apply.

Our standard benches measure 20cm width. Our benches with farmhouse legs are 30cm width. We can make the table and bench wider for you if required, however, for each extra plank added in width there is an additional charge of £50 per extra plank on top of the quoted
price. Adding extra planks to the table top would require a wider table and bench base, and will also make the table more heavy to work with. We would not advise a table wider than 100cm due to the weight of the overall table. Please email for further clarification if you would like a wider table or bench.

With shabby chic repainted furniture, if the furniture is knocked it will chip! So please take care with your furniture. We can supply a small pot of paint should you accidently chip your hand painted piece of furniture.

We cannot guarantee the paint finish as we do not make the paint ourselves. We always apply the paints and primers as per manufacturers instructions and cannot be held responsible if chips do occur to your furniture if knocked. Since Farrow and Ball stopped making the oil based paint, painted furniture does tend to chip more easily.

Payment
Once you have confirmed you would like to go ahead with the order,
the full amount would be payable via a bank transfer prior to us commencing work on the furniture. Once work has commenced on your set refunds are not possible as the sets are made Bespoke and to your specifications.

We do offer an instalment payment of paying a 50% non refundable deposit as part payment for the set. The balance will then be due within 24 hours of us notifying you the set is complete. We can only offer this method of payment, if the customer agrees to pay the balance in full within the agreed 24 hours of us notifying you the set is complete.

If you cannot adhere to this, the set must otherwise be paid in full prior to us commencing work on the set. We will only offer this option if you agree to these terms and conditions.

If the order is cancelled by yourself once work has commenced on the set or if the instalment payment is not adhered to and the final balance is not paid within 24 hours of us notifying you that the set is complete, we  will retain the full deposit paid by yourself or the full balance paid, whichever method you have paid up to the point of cancellation or lack of payment within the timescale. We may then proceed to sell the set on to another customer.
If you are experiencing difficulties paying the final balance, please do contact us, prior to the completion date, as we can offer a payment extension plan. This will be at our discretion.

If you would like us to store your set for a longer period, we can do this at no extra cost as long as this is agreed upon purchase of the set. Otherwise, we can store the set for a longer period of time at a cost of £25 per each additional week the set is stored.

We will try to take a photo of your completed set but cannot always guarantee to be able to do this. The sets are extremely heavy to move outside of our unit and the weather does not always allow for the sets to be taken outside. If we cannot take a photo of the full set, we will take a photo of one of the chairs.

The courier may only be arranged once the full balance has been received.

If we do not hold the chairs you would like in stock and would like us to source a set for you, we can do this but a 50% non refundable deposit will be payable prior to us sourcing the set. We cannot guarantee to be able to source an identical set of chairs to your requirements as all sets are unique, however we will source a set as close as possible to your requirements.

We ask for 5 to 6 weeks time from cleared payment to completion of your order depending on workload at the time of order. We will aim to have the set ready by the end of the lead time but may sometimes encounter slight delays. We will let you know if we are expecting any delays with your set. Once the set is complete, the courier may then be arranged. Even though we aim to have the set ready by the end of the lead time, we cannot guarantee your chosen courier can collect the very next day. We need to liaise with the courier to find a suitable collection day and we will let you know once this has been organised. The courier will then let you know the day they will be delivering the set to you.

Chairs: Please read:

You may order chairs from our refurbished vintage section. All the chair sets we source are all vintage or antique, unique and one off sets,  so will show signs of age, layers of previous paint applied, possible knocks and dings, very typical of the shabby chic style. As all our chairs are vintage and refurbished there may be slight movement to the chairs. We do fully refurbish and strengthen the chairs but as with any vintage wood piece of furniture there may be some level of movement and some movement may occur over time.

They are all refurbished by us, lightly sanded, primed and hand painted with numerous coats of paint. All as per manufacturers instructions. Brush strokes and paint marks may be visible as our chairs are hand painted. Please do not expect "as new" chairs. Shabby Chic is a form of interior design where furniture and furnishings are either chosen for their appearance of age and signs of wear and tear, or where new items are distressed to achieve the appearance of an antique. You may email me for a description of your chairs prior to placing the order to avoid any disappointment.

Hairline cracks and movement are part of the natural process of solid wood movement and therefore any hairline cracks or movement that may develop are not considered a defect but part of the woods natural movement. Our chairs are vintage or antique so will not be as solid as a brand new chair. Please bare this in mind prior to ordering. We do not offer any form of guarantee with the chairs as they are vintage and not handmade by us.

Paint finished furniture can take up to 3 weeks to fully cure. So please take care with your furniture upon arrival and for the first few weeks until it has fully hardened as if you do knock the furniture, it will chip!

Our sets are gorgeous rustic rugged farmhouse shabby chic, they may have a slightly rugged texture which is normal for rustic farmhouse furniture. If you are after an "as new" veneer finish, then maybe our sets are not for you!

We will give you an inital quote for your set if you choose a set of chairs from the ones we hold in stock or due into stock. If we do not hold the chairs you would like in stock and would like us to source a set for you, we can do this but a 25% non refundable deposit will be payable prior to us sourcing the set. We cannot guarantee to be able to source an identical set of chairs to your requirements as all sets are unique, however we will source a set as close as possible to your requirements. If you would like a specific style of chair and we have to source this for you, this will incur a price increase from our initial quote.

The price of the chair depends on the style of chair. Prices start from £50 per chair but if purchased as part of a set we will offer the chairs at a discounted overall price

You may choose your fabric for the re-upholstered chairs from the range of fabrics we offer. The choices available are subject to availability at the time of order.
If you wish to have an alternative to the choices of fabric we offer, a price variation may apply.

We can supply any size Bespoke Farmhouse piece to suit your requirements.

Please note the photos above are for illustrative purposes only, the table legs may vary slightly from the ones in the above photo depending on stock availability.

Every computer does show colours differently, the paint and oil finishes in the photos may vary slightly from the actual completed furniture you receive.

Prices may vary depending on style of chairs.
Whether they are a matching set, re-upholstered, will also apply to price variations.

Rustic Farmhouse Plank Top Wood
Our chunky rustic tables & benches are handmade using fully seasoned Kiln Dried Wood Planks for the Table Tops with Mortise & Tenon joints to the base and checked for humidity levels.

All tables and benches are handmade to order so will have variations in colour, finish and wood grain as wood is a natural product so variations are to be expected. Every piece is unique and is rustic in appearance. Different woods may have a different colour to the wood grain depending on the wood, if you are particular about the finish, please email us PRIOR to placing an order for further details.

The table top is a separate structure to the table base and rests on top of the table base using stretcher plates to allow for natural wood movement so it can still move freely as required allowing for seasonal expansion/contraction.

Wood will expand and contract depending on relative humidity and moisture content changes in the atmosphere.

With wood movement there may be slight seasonal changes to your wood, this is normal and to be expected with any natural wood product.

Hairline cracks may appear on your solid wood items, but these are not cracks but just natural movement of the wood expanding and contracting. This is part of the natural process of solid wood movement and therefore any hairline cracks that may develop are not considered a defect but part of the woods natural movement.

How to care for your table
All wood must be allowed to come to a state of balance with its environment in order to prevent moisture-related damage. This state of balance is called equilibrium moisture content, or EMC.
For example, if a table top is sealed off with a pvc cover, this will cause naturally ocurring moisture only to penetrate from below the table, the uncovered side. This will cause the lower side to swell while the upper, sealed off side remains the same. This can result in a warp in the table. Without the pvc cover on top, both sides would have absorbed moisture evenly and the table would have expanded and contracted with minimal (or no) warping.

To avoid this from happening, do not cover your table top on a permanent basis as this will imbalance the equilibrium of the table. Only use covers or coasters when in use and remove once you have finished your meal.

***We use wax or danish oil to protect your table top. To clean the table, lightly dampen a cloth with water or use a microfiber cloth that will cling to dust particles on its own. Wipe up spillages promptly and never allow water to sit on the table top!

****Do not place the table next to a radiator. The temperature changes could damage the wood with warping or splitting. Also, store any extra leaves near the table itself. This ensures that the leaf will not warp or swell/contract differently from the table. If you store the leaf in a basement or attic, the moisture and temperature differential could take its toll.

***Watch humidity levels. As with all woodwork, from flooring to trim, from dining tables to other furnishings, try to keep humidity levels in your home between 40 and 45%. Any lower could crack the wood and any higher could cause swelling. This may mean running a humidifier in the winter and an a/c or de-humidifier in the summer.

Waxed Finished Wood
A wax finish does not have the same protection as Danish Oil, the colour is applied in the same way but it is then finished with a liquid wax.
The wood is not sealed in anyway and can breathe and take on the elements of its surroundings, such as smoke from an open fire.
Rings will occur if mats are not used and spills will be absorbed into the wood.
Waxed wood needs periodical waxing depending on what wear and tear it receives, a chest of drawers would probably benefit from a monthly wax, whilst a table would benefit twice a month.  This is not as labour intensive as it sounds, only the top need be done with a clear wax and following the instructions on the tin.  If a coloured wax is applied the furniture colour will subtly change over time.  Six to twelve month intervals it is wise to wax the whole piece.  The wax soaks into to the wood keeping the wood hydrated and keeps the colour sharp, if rewaxing was not adhered to the piece would fade and possibly start to split in places.
As wax furniture does absorb dust particles and grease from finger tips and such like, a top tip is to wipe waxed furniture over with baby wipes as they hold just the right amount of moisture.

Restoration
Waxed furniture is easily restored if damaged has occurred to the finish. There are several products on the market to remove rings and marks.  They will probably not remove these marks completely but they do a pretty good job.  You can solely work on the damaged area and not bother too much with the rest.  You can also rub waxed furniture down with either a very fine grade wire wool or sandpaper, working with the grain and once satisfied that the mark is removed re wax with a colour close or an exact match to the original piece.

Our sets are gorgeous rustic rugged farmhouse shabby chic, they may have a slighly rugged texture which is normal for rustic farmhouse furniture. If you are after an "as new" veneer finish, then maybe our sets are not for you!

Please bear this is in mind prior to purchasing our wonderful furniture.
